AboveNet, Inc. Broadens Fiber-Powered Metro Ethernet Portfolio
New York, NY - AboveNet, Inc., a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, announced that it has expanded its suite of metro Ethernet offerings. Now high-bandwidth connections can be installed more cost-effectively, requiring less space, power and equipment. These point-to-point Ethernet connections can be implemented at 100MB, full 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit speeds, in the top 12 U.S. metro markets.
"The appetite for large bandwidth connectivity continues to grow at a record pace," says Rajiv Datta, Chief Technology Officer for AboveNet. "Our new service offerings are designed to meet these needs while offering compelling feature choices such as dedicated bandwidth, IP transit bundling and the elimination of current space and power requirements."
Now, more customers can take advantage of a scalable fiber-based network infrastructure that is focused on high-bandwidth users without the traditional CO-based architecture, which can degrade latency performance. The ability to offer cost-effective 10GbE metro connections further highlights the benefits of a fiber-powered approach. "All of these benefits can now be leveraged by customers across AboveNet's significant metro footprint which includes access to key enterprise, datacenter and carrier hotel locations," stated Rajiv Datta.
"We're excited to continue meeting our customer's needs for scalable, cost-effective, fiber-powered connectivity solutions, like our expanded Ethernet services. As the demand for these high-capacity solutions grows at an accelerating rate, AboveNet's network offerings are singularly focused on customers' high-bandwidth needs," says Bill LaPerch, AboveNet President and CEO.
